6701 - Castelorizo as a spearhead

Now that Cyprus has reached an agreement with Israel regarding the EEZ, completing in this way its previous agreements with Lebanon and Egypt, the three external EEZ have henceforth the capacity of cohesion, which as we know, is very significant in topology. In other words, this means that Cyprus has stabilized its south part and it has determined also the external borders of the European Union with this area. In consequence, the European framework has expanded, at least theoretically, since in order to constitute a practical idea, Greece must reach an agreement regarding the EEZ with Cyprus on one hand and Italy on the other. Only this way the notion of cohesion will acquire a European entity. Consecutively, Castelorizo appears even more critically now as the spearhead in the Eastern Mediterranean, since its mere existence, in the economic sense, allows the union of the Greek and Cypriot EEZ. The criticalness of this island is no longer a theoretical assumption but a topostrategic reality. It is now an issue of Greek initiative to materialize actually and essentially not a single defensive doctrine, which appears as utopian when we examine its entity in practice, but a EEZ which will include it. Because all the rest is just words. As long as Castelorizo is not included in this single framework, it will constitute potentially a next lost country and it will follow in History the course of Imvros and Tenedos. The recent initiative of Cyrpus must be reinforced also by Greece, for an actual resistance to the plans of the neo-ottoman doctrine to exist. Only in this way, which remains the only one presently, we will be able to release Castelorizo from an actual isolation and a course of confinement which may end up only to its expected absorption by Turkey. The European framework is on our side, the Cypriot initiative gives us the tempo, it is our turn to create the memory of the future regarding Castelorizo via the EEZ.
